sin no more

One Moment With God Will Change Everything

Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.
— Romans 6:1-4

Every time you encounter the true presence of God, something about you changes. The Bible says in 2 Cor. 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” When there’s a true encounter with God, a change occurs. That’s the glorious mystery of how God made things work. You can come just as you are; full of fear, sick in your body and active in the worst kind of sin. But one moment in the presence of God can melt it all away.

At the Festival Of Life in Clarksburg, West Virginia a man gave his heart to Jesus. He had done drugs since he was a child and was living with his girlfriend. By the end of that week, he quit doing drugs, married his girlfriend and was baptized with water and the Holy Ghost! When that man encountered Jesus, a change had begun. The more he stayed in the presence of God, the more the Holy Spirit directed him to make changes.

No one told him he had to marry his girlfriend. No one had to force him to put the blunt down. No one had a gun to his head forcing him to smile from ear to ear. That all came because of a moment in the presence of God.

If there are things you want to change about yourself, you need to evaluate your relationship with God. Have you had a true encounter with Him? If you have, He’ll lovingly tell you about all the things that need correcting in your life. Going to the bar with your buddies will no longer be an issue. Meeting up with that person who sends you a text a midnight will make you cringe.

God welcomes the sinner but His love compels that sinner to get rid of sin! You may have come into God’s presence one way but you come out a new man/woman!

Why do we fear?

Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.
— Hebrews 2:14-15

Every bit of fear you face is drawn out of the fear of death. When a person fears a sickness or disease it's because they're afraid to die. When a person steals or sells drugs, their reason for doing it is usually to preserve their life. The biggest fear a heroin addict has, is the fear of death. Almost every reason behind fear stems from the fear of dying.

If you accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life, you have access to live a fear free life. Jesus, the Son of God, came down to earth and put on flesh and blood so that He could die! He was sent for one purpose and it was to DIE! In that death, however, He took back the keys of hell, death, and grave from Satan (Rev. 1:18). Three days later He rose back to life! WHY? Because death lost its power.

“Death is swallowed up in victory.

O death, where is your victory?

O death, where is your sting?”

For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

-1 Cor. 15:55-57

The Bible says in James 1:15 "These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death." Jesus gave you the power to never sin a day in your life and through that power, the death sentence over your life is broken!

The next time fear comes knocking on your door, remind it of what Jesus did. The greatest victory ever afforded to the believer was the victory over death! So, FEAR NOT. That's a command!
